Heavy D and the Boyz
Heavy D's real name was Dwight Arrington Myers. He was born in Jamaica and moved to America with his family a few years after being born. His group, Heavy D and the Boyz, consisted of himself and three other guys who were dancers, with him being the only rapper. One interesting thing I found about Heavy D and the Boyz is the fact that they were the first group signed to Uptown Records, and many years later, Heavy D became the president of the record company. Another interesting and ironic thing I found was, Heavy D rapped in one of Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson's songs, and it is believed he died in 2011 from a blood clot forming on a plane ride from London where he had just performed at Michael Jackson's memorial. Lastly, Heavy D hired Sean "Diddy" Combs as an intern for Uptown Records, and since then, Diddy has gone on to do many of the same things professionally as Heavy D did.
